GAP Programs 

Programs offered by Grade A Plus Incorporated include the Grade A Plus: Academic Support and Enrichment Program, and the FHG Dance Outreach Program.

We are working in the community with youth and their families. We strive to make academic success accessible to all of our students through afterschool tutoring and enrichment opportunities. 

We offer a STREAM focused program. Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math experiences to students enrolled in the program.

Academic Tutoring

 

Academic  tutoring is available to students in grades 1-12. Some of the areas in which we provide support include:  



Grades 1-2:

  • African American Literature books

  • Writing the alphabet, Printing & Cursive training

  • Counting and learning to love Reading  words

  • Successful game strategy interaction

Grades 3-7:

  • African American literature

  • Computer coding

  • Khan Academy math practice

  • Emphasis on mastery of multiplication and fraction facts

  • Acquiring skills in cursive, measurement, and counting money

  • Emphasize on grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.

 

Grades 8-12:

  • Math support with University of Missouri graduate student tutors in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. 

  • AP and Honors math support

  • Mentoring for jobs, college, and leadership development

  • Identified tutoring support in certain sciences when possible.

Enrichment

 

Enrichment activities are available on Wednesdays and Friday's in swimming, basketball, yoga, and dance instruction for students who are concurrently enrolled in Academic Support on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.

Students not enrolled in Grade A Plus can enroll in the enrichment activities on a fee basis. Additionally parents are also welcome to participate for a fee. 

If a student is enrolled in another after school activity for one-two sessions a week, allowances will be made for them to add an enrichment only activity in Grade A Plus Incorporated.

FHG Dance Outreach 

Students can study dance through the Grade A Plus Dance Academy sessions offered through the enrichment program.  Students then have the option to join the FHG Dance Outreach team to continue their learning and skill advancement. One goal of this training is to advance to participate in a travelling team that makes presentations at festivals, celebratory events and other public forms of presentation

Science Program 

Presently Grade A Plus supports STREAM learning by offering a Robotics development workshop in the Fall (Oct-Nov). In the Sping (May-June) hands on science is provided once a week (Tuesday) and science based field trips and excursions are offered once a week (Thursday) to encourage the development of scientific skills and reasoning in the student participants.
